Ireland 2008
These paintings represent the southern half of Ireland. We spent some time in the cities of Dublin and Galway, but the majority of our trip was spent meandering around the small seaside villages and farms. And yes, it is GREEN! It was a challenge for me to depict the "greeness" and provide contrast with the rest of the surroundings. We did not expect the brightly colored buildings in the cities; I suspect the colors chase away the gray skies. The villages are neat and compact, and the farms are girded by rock fences which enclose crops and animals. There are churches, the proverbial pubs, fishing marinas, white beaches, sailboats, sturdy white cottages, and the green, green, green of home. It is the land of enchantment!
